The history behind Daniel Wellington is that when Filip Tysander (the founder) travelled around the world, met an interesting brit with an impeccable but still, completely unpretentious style. This man had a great love for vintage watches, always worn on his wrist – but combined with older NATO-straps, in need of being replaced. Yes, this man's name is Daniel Wellington, and this fortunate meeting between these men was the inspiration of the creation of the brand: Daniel Wellington. Filip Tysander returned to Sweden with an idea and the drive to create watches that expressed the same timeless style as the inspiring brit did.
Back in Sweden he immediately started working on the concept and the design. He had already decided that the brand's signature combination should be watches with NATO-straps, and that the watch should be narrow, elegant and minimalistic – without too many features... easy to match with different NATO-straps, in different colours and patterns. It was crucial that he, himself, was in love with the watch, so he could feel pride for what he created – and all his hard work resulted in a unique and beautiful watch. Narrow, refined and completely round... minimalistic with few and simple functions. A traditional look that matched perfectly with the colourful and fresh NATO-strap, but at the same time... just as perfectly beautiful together with the classic leather strap. This was a design that would appeal to anyone who appreciated classic and timeless design.
